    Bram works for Jacob.....as revealed in the season finale......he and illiana knew the answer to the riddle and so did richard so they are cool....i guess.

    This was answered in Episode 05x10, He's Our You. It's because the family of the guy Sayid killed on the golf course sent a bounty hunter, Llana, to bring him to them and to make him pay for killing the golf course guy.
